Welcome to Vimmerby Municipality, located in northeastern Småland with a diversified and rich business community where you can find a palette of services and manufacturing industries, forestry, and agriculture. The municipality has 15,400 inhabitants and a significant tourism industry with 750,000 visitors.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Municipal Director, you have a central role in the municipality and are responsible for implementing political decisions and serving as a link between the municipal council and the administrative organization. You have overall responsibility for daily operations and also function as the CEO of the municipality's management company. Your mission is to ensure that the municipality's vision, strategies, and decisions are implemented effectively and in accordance with applicable legislation.

Vimmerby Municipality is organized into four administrations. You lead and develop the administrations, are responsible for budget and financial management, and represent the municipality in external contexts. The municipality also includes three wholly-owned companies: Vimarhem AB, Vimmerby Energi & Miljö AB, and Vimmerby fibernät AB. In total, we have about 1,700 dedicated employees in the municipality's organization. The role has seven direct reports, including two heads of administration.

As a driving and coordinating leader, you are an inspirer who creates a positive work environment and promotes strong engagement among the municipality's employees. You work long-term to develop the municipality's services and community development, where sustainability, digitized working methods, and the needs of residents are in focus. We are at a stage where we need to work even more development-oriented and proactively to deliver our community mission. To lead and represent the municipality in the best way, we prefer that you reside near Vimmerby, which allows for a close connection to the operations and its residents.

QUALIFICATIONS

ABOUT YOU

To succeed in the role, we believe you are a confident leader with good communication skills and solid experience in leading through managers at a strategic level in a municipality. You are skilled at prioritizing and planning and can make quick, sound decisions based on changing conditions. With your ability to see the big picture, you motivate and empower others with the authority needed to achieve collectively set goals. You work results-oriented and create engagement and participation among employees. Through your pedagogical and communicative skills, you ensure that messages are conveyed, both internally and externally. We also prefer that you are knowledgeable about municipal law, have experience in driving and developing processes for digitization, and are accustomed to working with change management with good results.

You also have:

• A degree in economics or equivalent that we consider relevant.
• Extensive experience in leadership positions in politically governed organizations.
• Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

The position is security classified, and a background check will be conducted on the final candidate.
